The Lady Braves Volleyball Program had another week full of match play, including Senior Night, resulting in 2 wins and a boost to their Metro Conference and District Records.

The Lady Braves started their week of home matches on Tuesday, taking on the Winter Park Wildcats.  The JV squad took the court first, pushing hard against Winter Park, but ultimately losing 1 game to 2.  Top JV performers were Frshman Setter Emma Knapp, Sophomore Outside Hitter Emily Harrison, and Sophomore Libero Sophie Adams.  In the Varsity match-up, another great series going to all 5 games.  The Braves started out strong, playing the Wildcats tough through game wins and losses.  Ultimately, the Wildcats prevailed, beating Boone 3 games to 2.  Great performances from Senior Middle/Opposite Julia Alves (6 kills, 2 digs) and Senior Captain Opposite Ashlynn Daley (6 kills, 12 digs, 1 ace) led the Braves.

On Wednesday, the Lady Braves hosted the Freedom Patriots in match-ups with all 3 teams; it was also Senior Night for Boone.  In the Freshman match, the Braves quickly put down the Patriots 2 games to 0, led by Outside Hitter Brooke Smith, Setter Anna Herlong, and Middle Kaitlyn Sewell.  Next up, the JV also made fast work of the Patriots, finishing them off 2 games to 0.  Outside Hitter Emily Harrison, Middle Alaynah Fennell and Outside Tori Auer all led the way with outstanding play.  In the final competition of the night, the Braves celebrated their Seniors Julia Alves, Erin Carter, Lizzy Lorent and Yesenia Lorenzo prior to match start.  Beginning the first set with all the Seniors in play, the Braves took the first game and moved through to top the Patriots 3 games to 1.  Great performances by Senior Captain Outside Hitter Erin Carter (12 kills, 14 digs, 1 ace) and Sophomore Middle Clara Flint (7 kills, 3 blocks, 3 aces) led the Braves to victory.

Thursday night saw the Lady Braves at home again, this time squaring off against the solid teams from Lake Nona.  The Freshman team worked hard in their match-up, but ultimately fell to the Lions in 2 games.  JV pushed through a slow start and came back to give the Lions a fight, but also ended with a 0-2 loss after a nail-biting second set.  In the last match of the week, the Varsity team took the court for their turn against Lake Nona, finishing with a strong 3-1 win.  The Varsity Braves played great as a team, led by top performers Junior Captain Setter/Outside Hitter Lilly Baker (28 digs, 6 kills, 6 assists, 2 aces) and Sophomore Middle Hitter Halle Block (5 aces, 2 blocks).

After this week, the Varsity Lady Braves are now in a great position both for their Metro Conference and their District, with a current record of 6 wins, 1 loss and 2 wins, 1 loss for each respectively.  The Lady Braves look to add more into the "win" column next week, traveling to Timber Creek for an Away District and Metro match on Monday, and hosting University at home on Tuesday for another District and Metro faceoff.
