Lady Braves Volleyball Starts October Going 1-1

The Lady Braves Volleyball teams took on Timber Creek and University High School in match-ups last week, finishing 1-1.  In the away match-up against Timber Creek on Monday, the freshman team played strong, led by Brooke Smith and Kaitlyn Sewell.  They played the Timberwolves close all the way to the end, but unfortunately, they couldn't seal the deal and fell 2 games to 0.  The JV team also played hard against Timber Creek, led by setter Emma Knapp, Libero Sophie Adams, and Outside Hitter Emily Harrison, but the Timberwolves took the match 2 games to 0.  In the Varisty match-up, the Lady Braves came out strong, taking down the Timberwolves in the first set 25-17.  Timber Creek rallied back to take the next 3 hard-fought sets, and defeated the Braves 3 games to 1.  Top Varsity performers were Erin Carter (17 kills, 13 digs), Lily Baker (11 kills, 16 digs), Ella Durham (26 assists), and Halle Block (5 aces).

On Tuesday's JV and Varsity Home matchup against University, the Braves wore Pink to raise awareness for Breast Cancer research and treatment.  The JV team played strong and consistent, easily putting down the Cougars in 2 games.  JV was led by top performances from Emma Knapp, Alaynah Fennell, and Sophie Adams.  In the Varsity match, the Lady Braves played great from start to finish, putting away University in a quick 3 game match.  The team ended with an impressive 21 aces over the 3 set match up.  Tope performers were Ashlynn Daley (4 kills, 4 aces, 10 digs), Clara Flint (7 kills, 2 blocks), Lily Baker (7 kills, 6 aces, 7 digs), and Erin Carter (7 kills, 8 aces, 6 digs).

The Lady Braves end their regular season play this week with JV and Varsity traveling to Winter Springs on Tuesday, Evans on Wednesday, and Edgewater on Thursday.  The Freshman team ends their season with a Tri-match at home on Wednesday with Freedom and Olympia.
