The Boone Braves have been starting off the season well, tucking in some wins under their belt.

The Braves took on Seminole foe, Winter Springs High School. They shutout the Bears, 2-0. Miguel Larreal went 2-3.  Christian Amlong and Edgar Alvarez drove in the runs. Caleb Cirio, Ethan White, and Clayton Powell combined to throw a 2-hitter with 13 Strikeouts. Caleb Cirio earned the win, striking out eight batters.

Shortly after shutting out the Bears, the Braves took on another Seminole County foe, this time in Lake Brantley. The Braves lost the decision, 2-8. Although the Braves kept the score close through four innings, the Patriots were able to plate three runs in the 5th inning to put the game out of reach for the Braves.

Faceing their third game in as many days, the Braves took on Spruce Creek. Through extra innings, the Braves prevailed, topping SC 8-7. Boone won the game on a walk-off single by Edgar Alvarez sending Miguel Larreal home in the bottom of the 8th. Jack Dixson collected 2 hits including a double, Miguel Larreal had 3 hits and 2 RBIs, and Alvarez went 3-4 with a double and the game winning RBI.  Ethan White pitched 3-2/3 innings of scoreless relief, and Clayton Powell picked up the win throwing the final 1-2/3 innings.

The Braves would finally get down to a metro conference showdown against Freedom High School. Boone would defeat the Patriots by a score of 4-3. Boone scored 3 runs in the 6th and 1 in the 7th to come from behind and beat Freedom. Miguel Larreal went 4-4 with an RBI.  Natiel Del Fresno pitched 3 scoreless innings, striking out 2 to earn the win.

Looking to defeat Freedom twice in two times, the Braves fortunues were not meant to be, as the Braves lost this decision 1-6. The Braves surrendered 5 runs in the 4th inning.  Marcus Valle drove in Boone's only run on a single to score Jacob Maddox.

The Braves are back in action Friday, March 9, as they take on a Metro opponent in the Oak Ridge Pioneers.
