Girls Lacrosse Blitzes Timber Creek, Earns Birth in District Championship
4/18/2018 10:41:00 AM
On Tuesday evening, the Lady Braves took on the Timber Creek Wolves in the District 10 Semi Final at Lake Highland Prepatory School. Timber Creek had defeated the Braves in a heartbreaking overtime thriller earlier in the season. This time history would not repeat itself, but it would be created.

The Braves struck first off of a Kara Gentry (Sr.) goal just a minute into the game. Timber Creek found an answer to her goal. For the next four total goals, the Braves and Wolves would take turns scoring, thanks to Gentry and Lexi Pace (So.). The Braves would end the first half up 6-3 thanks to a 3-0 lead and a stubborn defensive effort by Payton Johnson (Jr.) and company; the Braves stiffled the Wolves offense at one point for five minutes, not allowing a single shot.

In the second half, the Braves would score three quick goals, making it 8-3 with plenty of time left. Timber Creek scored two goals over the next few minutes to keep them into the game. However, it was the Braves who continued to roll and trump the Wolves in every aspect of the game.

The Braves ultimately won, 13-5. This was the first win over Timber Creek in 13 years and 21 games. Pace finished with a game and career high six goals, while Gentry ended with five goals, seven draw controls, and 9 groundballs. Avery Tyndall (Sr.) ended with a goal and two assists, while Juliette Paymayesh (So.) ended with a goal and Amy Undieme (Sr.) added a helper. Payton Johnson amassed 14 saves (74%).

The Braves will take on the Lake Highland Prepatory Highlanders in the District 10 championship on Thursday, 4/19/18 at Lake Highland Prepatory School. Come out and support your Braves as history continues to be made!
