Varsity Girls Lacrosse Beats Freedom/University

JV: Win, 9-2

 

On Monday evening, the JV Lady Braves lacrosse team took on Freedom High School in wet and dewy conditions. After using a three-goal run to start the game, the Braves never looked back, defeated the Patriots, 9-2. The Braves, who were led by Sierra Tagman's three goals on the evening, exploded for six 2nd half goals. Ansley Dalton, Arielle Cesareo, Sydney Capen, Megan Bundy, Kassidy Auer, and Casadi Carney rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece. Gabbie Roberts made four stops in the winning effort. The team improves to 3-4-2 on year.

 

 

Varsity: Win, 19-8

On Monday evening, the Varsity Lady Braves lacrosse team took on Freedom High School in a Metro showdown in calm, yet consistent, rain. Although playing conditions were not favorable, the Braves won, decisively, 19-8. The Braves, who were led by Morgan Chambers' five goals, exploded for nine 1st half and 10 2nd half goals. Kara Gentry notched three goals, while having four draw controls and three ground balls. Juliette Paymayesh, Jessica Shutack, Lexi Pace, and Sydney Haseldon each tallied two goals. Madeline Bogan added a goal, while Mady Benton also added a goal, an assist, and had six draw controls and five ground balls. Payton Johnson, with the win, made five saves in goal. The Braves improve to 4-7 on the season.

JV: Win, 4-1

On a brisk Wednesday evening, the JV Lady Braves lacrosse team took on Evans High School in what was their home finale. Sierra Tagman and Cassidi Carney's two goals helped propel the Braves to a 4-1 win, bringing the Braves to 4-4-2, and 2-0-1 in their last three games, riding a 3-game non-losing streak. Dealing with a stingy Evans offense, Gabby Roberts, with the company of her defense, held the Trojans at bay, only allowing five shots all game. Roberts made four saves in the victory. The Braves will travel to Trinity Prep on Thursday for their last game of the season.

 

 

Varsity: Win, 18-1

On a chilly Wednesday night, the Varsity Lady Braves lacrosse team took on University High School in their last regular season district game of the year. After using a 7-0 run to start the game, the Braves took the win, 18-1. The Braves are now 4-3 in district play and will wait for seedings of the rest of the district to fall in place. The Braves were led by Jessica Shutack, who had a game-high four goals, while also adding an assist. Sydney Haselden, Maddy Bogan, Morgan Chambers, and Lexi Pace all added two goals each. Mackensie Cook, Kara Gentry, Mady Benton, Avery Tyndall, Shayne Maguffey, and Emily Smith all added a goal. Bogan, Benton, and Roxanne Zachar all had an assist as well. Payton Johnson stood strong in cage, preserving the win. The Braves improve to 5-7 overall on the season, and will play Thursday night at Trinity Prep in their last game before spring break.
