Six Senior Student-Athletes Honored at Awards Ceremony

On Wednesday night, six Boone senior student-athletes were honored for their accomplishments over the course of the last four years:

BHSAA Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year - Julianne Cheatham (Diving)
Julianne has a 5.17 weighted GPA and is one of the valedictorian. She was a varsity diver for four years for the Braves. She has three 3rd place Metro finishes and won a district title during her career. She will be attending Colgate University.

BHSAA Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year - Nathan Wendling (Soccer)
Nathan has a weighted GPA of 5.02 and is a Boone valedictorian. He is a two-year member of the varsity soccer team. He will be attending the University of Florida.

John C. Pitts Award - Top Female Student-Athlete - Haley Hadd (Weightlifting, Track, Soccer and Flag Football)
Haley has earned 11 varsity letters while being a member of four varsity programs. She has a weighted GPA of 5.0. She will be attending the University of North Florida.

William R. Boone Award - Top Male Student-Athlete - Sam Gentry Mickelson (Swimming and Water Polo)
Sam has one 4 district titles in swimming and has been named to the All-Metro team for three consecutive seasons in water polo.
He will be studying engineering at one of the two schools that he still has under consideration.

Ivan Repass Award - Top Male Student-Athlete for Leadership and Character - Tanner Woods (Football and Lacrosse)
Tanner has been a captain of the football team along with being a 2-year letter winner. In lacrosse, he was a captain his senior year and is a 2-time All-Metro honoree. He will be attending the University of Florida.

Bill Lowry Award - Top Femal Student-Athlete for Leadership and Character - Kelsi Smith (Weightlifting and Softball)
Kelsi is a 4-year varsity letter winner in softball and was the MVP her junior year. In weightlifting, she was a 4-year letter winner and won Metro, District and Regional championships, as well as finishing 3rd in states her senior year. She will be attending Seminole State college and will be playing softball there.
